School Hours

Ratio/Class size 1:4 adult/child. Availability for 14 - 16 children.

Each class has one English Teacher, one Chinese Teacher and two Teacher Assistants.

A child`s social development is very important at this age.

Children engage in:

• Imaginative and pretend play
• Role playing
• Sharing and taking turns
• Playing with each other as well as next
  to each other (parallel play)

Every day we give lots of opportunities to encourage this play as well as developing a child`s confidence and creativity. Language learning is rich and connections are made where-ever possible from what a child already knows to new ideas and words.

In English classes children are exposed to the alphabet though song, rhyme, picture, object and shape. Numbers from 1-10 are introduced as a sequence and children begin to count and make groups of objects. Pre-writing skills will emerge and children can begin to recognize their own name.

Chinese Classes have children learning a set number of "hanzi" (Chinese characters), singing traditional Chinese children`s songs and rhymes, pre-writing of some simple Chinese characters while following the school’s monthly topic.

Other weekly activities the children take part in include: Kindermusik, painting, cooking, Kung Fu, sport skills and games, stories, puzzles and crafts.
